My family left Bell Island in 1967 when the mines closed. I was six years old. My father Joe Mercer, who passed away last year, worked in the mines.
I will be visiting Newfoundland in August with my mother (Dorothy nee Snow)and my 8 year old daughter Emily who has never been to Newfoundland.
I was telling Emily recently that we will have to go the Dicks' for the best fish and chips !
I will introduce myself when I come in.
