Alexa and Michael Laurie "Alexa agus Michael O'Labhrada"
Michael is a retired lawyer who once served overseas with NATO in the RCAF and was on an immersion course in l955 in Metz, France, for a year. Then, he served in the RCMP including driving dogteams in Aklavik and Tuktoyaktuk, NWT in l961. He now enjoys working the farm and maintaining the grounds of Strathlaurie House. In addition to English, Michael can converse with visitors in Gaelic, German and French..
Alexa is Senior Medical Officer of the Dr. Walter Templeman Hospital on Bell Island. Prior to this she was a medical doctor in Guatemala before coming to Canada via Belize. She speaks Spanish and Finnish and since her stepmom is a Finnish-born, naturalized British subject, Alexa spent her childhood summers on the family farm in Finland. During her university years, Alexa worked summers with the Swiss Army and learned these languages first hand. She spent a year with" Save the Children" a British trust, in Nepal and can speak Nepalese as well.
Michael and Alexa have three children, Daisy, Naomi, and Rebecca.
