THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER
April 22nd , 2007

Unpacking Easter – Mystagogy
Father in heaven, author of all truth, / a people once in darkness has listened to your Word / and followed your Son as he rose from the tomb. / Hear the prayer of this newborn people / and strengthen your Church to answer your call. / May we rise and come forth into the light of day / to stand in your presence until eternity dawns.
- Alternative Prayer, Third Sunday of Easter
As an opening prayer, these words call to mind the heart of the great mysteries we are celebrating through the Easter season.
The Easter Season is the time for us to deeply and seriously reflect on the events that we have just celebrated, the sacraments through which Christ has once again met us and transformed us, just a bit more, as his disciples. We reflect deeply upon these events because for us they are no less than experiences of conversion and salvation.
For the neophytes, those who have been fully initiated through the Easter Sacraments, this aspect of reflecting deeply upon the mysteries they have experienced has its own name. It’s called mystagogy, and it is the name given to this postbaptismal period of their initiation process. The word came from a Greek term referring to the mysteries in which they have participated: the mystery of God’s love and mercy, shown to us through Christ.
Easter calls all of us – neophytes and baptized alike – to ponder anew the great mysteries through which we have known Christ and his life-giving death and Resurrection.
First Reading: Acts 5.27 – 32, 40b - 41
We are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit
Second Reading: Revelation 5.11 – 14
Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might.
Gospel: John 21. 1.-19
Jesus took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.

Parish Oil Tanks
According to Government regulations our Parish was informed by the Inspector last year that we would have to replace one Oil tank and upgrade the other Oil tank. This work has now been completed and the cost to the Parish was approximately $2000.00 which was an unexpected expense to the Parish for this year. The Parish community has been very kind in the upkeep of their Parish. However, any donations towards this unexpected expense would be greatly appreciated at this time. Thank you for your kindness and understanding in this matter.
