ASCENSION OF THE LORD
MAY 8TH, 2005

Focus: Prayer brings is to deeper union with God and fosters greater unity within the Church.

In daily prayer we open ourselves to God. When we allow God to transform, strengthen, and guide us, our relationship with God deepens. We grow to love more wholeheartedly. Just as the early Church was made of one accord through its prayer, communal prayer continues to foster greater unity in the Church today.

Happy Mother's Day
Our sincere prayer is extended to all Mothers's as we honor you on this very special day. Mother's are truly the heart of the family and we trust that your family will take time on this day to say: I Love You. To all Moms who have died, we pray that the love they shared generously in this life will truly be forever praised by our God. To all Mothers who are living, may you be showered with abundant blessings on this day and throughout the year. Happy Mother's Day.

New Stage
Our parish has completed a new stage for our parish hall and it is through the generous donation of Mr. Kevin George. Mr. George has completed a new aluminum stage which we can use for various events in our hall especially our annual Dinner Theater, St. Patrick's Day concert and other entertainment. I wish to thank Mr. George for his donation and to his staff for their assistance in assembling the stage.

Immaculate Conception School
St. Michael's Parish has for sale the building of Immaculate Conception School. We have 60 days to sell this property or else it will be reverted back to the school board for demolition. We are saddened to see another building end its long and historic presence in our town but I hope someone within our town or outside will identify another use for the property. For more information, contact the Parish or John Kent, Chairperson of Finance Committee for our parish. You may contact the parish for more information concerning the financial offer you wish to make and the intent as to what you will use the building for in the future . The deadline for the tender for the purchase of the building will be Tuesday, May 31st: 5:00p.m. The highest tender is not necessarily the one to be accepted. All tenders will be discussed with the finance committee and the archdiocese and then one of the tenders may be accepted.

Sacrament of Confirmation : Sunday, May 15th
Next Sunday we will celebrate the sacrament of confirmation in our parish at the 10:30 a.m. mass. This mass will be a little longer and following the celebration, a social will be held at the parish hall. It is necessary that those who are to be confirmed must attend a rehearsal on Saturday, May 14th at 1:00 p.m.

Congratulations
We extend congratulations and best wishes to the students of St. Michael's High who are the graduating class for the year 2004 - 2005. We salute all students and encourage them to study hard and reap the great reward of completing your level 3 year with success. We assure you of our prayers and remind you: Keep Christ in your hearts.

Financial Campaign
The annual financial campaign for the archdiocese will take place on May 29th and June 5th . I ask for your support for this campaign as it will help once again to fund pastoral care services in the diocese. These services include: Hospitals, Nursing Homes, School for Deaf, university and prison . These services are paid for by the diocese and are not government funded.
For example our parish receives $200.00 per month from the diocese due to the work I do at the four senior homes in the city. Therefore, our parish receives generously and we should give generously to the cause.
