Thank You
The busy schedule of the Christmas holiday and the celebration of the
beginning of a New Year has been a time of wonderful joy for family and
friends. I trust it was a time of Peace for all and a great opportunity to
renew family ties and friendship. I sincerely thank all who offered kind
words to me, shared Christmas cards and gifts. Your kindness to me is
truly appreciated and strengthens a wonderful feeling of being part of
your family. I wish to thank all who celebrated the many liturgies with us
and helped in any way to decorate our church for the Christmas season. You
donation of flowers to our church in loving memory is also a beautiful
gift to those who have gone to their eternal home in Heaven. May the New
Year be a time of renewed faith and a firm resolve for all of us to be
active members of our church family and to serve Christ in the love we
share with one another.
Message from Archbishop O'Brien
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
When the Badger flood took place in February 2003, Catholics across the
Archdiocese responded spontaneously and generously to an appeal for aid on
behalf of the families who were hit by this calamity.
Today we are faced with another disaster of immense proportions caused
by the tidal wave which has brought so much grief and disaster to South
East Asia. Some of you may have already responded to the various calls for
aid, however, many more have asked how they can help. On Sunday, January
9th I invite you to contribute to a special appeal established by
Development & Peace for Tidal Wave Relief.
Development and Peace has been working in Asia for more than 30 years.
Because of this it can count on the Support of an active network of
partner groups in each of the countries that fell victim to this terrible
disaster. Also, Development and Peace is part of Caritas Internationals
which ensures that its efforts will be coordinated with contributions from
other countries and with the Catholic Church's social network throughout
Asia.
Thank you in advance for your generosity. Even a little can go a long
way when there are many givers.
May I take this opportunity at the beginning of this new year to offer
you sincere best wishes for 2005.
Sincerely yours in Christ;
Archbishop Brendan O'Brien
