THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT
FEBRUARY 27TH, 2005

Focus: We recognize the life-giving power of God through the gift of water.

We long for the gift of life-giving water physically, when we thirst. We cannot survive without it. Jesus provides us with living water to sustain us spiritually. We cannot attain eternal happiness without the living water - the Spirit - who comes to us in the waters of baptism.

Parish Penance Celebration
On Sunday, March 20th at 6:30 p.m. we will celebrate the sacrament of penance in preparation for the Easter season. All are invited and we will celebrate the individual rite of reconciliation as we did for the Christmas season.

Stew Supper
All are invited to gather downstairs following our Saturday mass to share in our stew supper and other treats. Following the supper, a card game will follow. Sincere thanks to all who coordinated this event and supplied the stew, rolls, cookies and all the time and talent to make it possible. Your support is much appreciated. See you at the hall following the 5:00 p.m. mass.

St. Patrick's Weekend
Plans are well under way for the St. Patrick's Weekend. The tickets for the Hot Roast Beef Dinner and Dance on Saturday, March 12th are on sale at a cost of $10.00. Please contact Rosanne Grant, Christine Quinlan , Ursula Lahey or the parish office if you wish to purchase a ticket. Please support the cause and help celebrate the Irish tradition. The plans for the concert on Sunday, March 13th are also in the making. Please contact Karen Seward and offer your talent to help make the concert a fine display of talent. Pilgrimage
Newfoundland Pilgrimage to St. Anne de Beaupre, Quebec, in memory of Philomena Chafe , organized by her son Frank Chafe with visits to Cape de Madeline and St. Joseph's Oratory , from St. John's to and from Montreal via Air Canada : August 4th to 11th . For more information, call 745 - 1736 or 368 - 6533.

Family Bibles
During the past week I purchased Family Bibles at very good price: $45.00 each. These bibles were originally $90.00 to purchase. If you wish to purchase a family bible for your home or a wedding gift, please call the office or drop by the sacristy after mass. Church Cleaning
We managed to get one new volunteer to assist with the cleaning of the church this past week. We are in serious need of extra help and I can only encourage you to support the work. I understand that it may be difficult for some parishioners to be involved in ministries at the regular mass such as reading or distributing Holy Communion but cleaning the church does not put great pressure on any person to be involved . Please join one of our regular church cleaning groups.
