Administrator: Fr. Wayne Dohey – Secretary: Jody Whalen

TWENTY-SECOND SUNDAY
AUGUST 28TH, 2005

Focus: The road to true happiness and peace is not always an easy one.

Too many people, in their search for happiness and meaning in their lives, snap up the latest books by self-named spiritual gurus. But can these things be achieved easily? Jesus does not offer his disciples an easy way. They must deny themselves and take up their crosses daily to receive the gifts of true peace, happiness and eternal life.

Family Day: Sunday, August 28th at 2:00 p.m.
All parishioners & friends are invited to our annual Family Day. The gathering will take place(weather permitting) behind the priests residence near the high school or else if weather is poor, we will gather at the parish hall. We will share a hot dog, hamburger and pop with family and friends and to offer a school item or several to the kids who participate in our fun games. Please make a special effort to attend on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.. All children are welcome and we ask that they be accompanied by parents or guardian.

Church Parking Lot
We have designated two parking spaces for the Physically challenged near the main entrance of the church. It is kindly appreciated that these two spaces be respected and used only by those who cannot use the stairs leading to the upper parking lot. We ask that the Fire Lane be free from all traffic especially in the event that we require emergency services such as the fire trucks or the ambulance. Please do not park in the fire lane. Also, we ask people not to park on church property as we have noticed in the last few weeks an increase in the number of individuals loitering on the church parking lot in the evening hours.

Home Religion Program
The religious education for our children is the sole responsibility of the parents/ guardians. The role of the parish is to provide the religious materials and coordinate the families to participate in the program.
Children: Age 5 & 6 are invited to participate in the year 1 program
Children: Age 7 or older can participate in the year 2 program which includes First Eucharist.
Children: Age 8 can participate in the year 3 program which includes First Penance.
Children: Any child aged 7 years or older may celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation.
Please note that these age groups are flexible. It is up to the parents and guardians to ask to have their child register for a particular program. The expectation is that the religion program will be completed at home and once a month we will meet with the parents/guardians to evaluate their progress.
For more information, call Karen Seward (488-2560) or the parish office (488-2525). Registration forms are available at the parish office or at the church. Please complete the form and submit a fee of $10 so that the parish can purchase the materials required for each child.

St. Michael's Parish Hall
The cost to operate St. Michael's Parish hall continues to a major expense for our parish. It is very important that if our hall is to operate it must remain viable on its own without having the parish to take money from the weekly church collection to pay for its expenses. As the Fall months draw closer, the expenses of light, oil, cleaning, and insurance will increase and therefore we must find ways for the hall to pay these expenses. To those who are planning a wedding or private function of any kind, we would appreciate you supporting your parish. Please call the parish concerning the costs for dinners or hall rentals before you make your final decision as to the place you wish to host your private function. We need your support and if we cannot get the support to maintain the hall property, we will have serious decisions to make concerning the future operations of the hall.
