FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
MAY 2, 2004

FOCUS: We are both honoured and challenged to be chosen to carry on the mission of Jesus.

How Obvious to others is our decision to be followers of the resurrected Jesus? Each disciple is called to manifest those attitudes and actions which genuinely express who Jesus is to each of us. We need to evaluate our day-to-day behaviours so as to see how the message of Jesus is being sent out to those who comprise our personal world.

Altar Servers
We are all very appreciative of the wonderful kids who serve mass on a regular basis. During the weekend of May 22nd and 23rd, I will enroll the servers to the ministry of Altar Server. This is a brief ceremony and a time for all of us to recognize and encourage the kids who are very faithful to mass. To the altar servers who have not been enrolled, please ensure you are present at these weekend liturgies.

International Worker's Day: Saturday, May 1st
Today, International Worker's Day is celebrated in many countries. It is a time for us to recognize the value of human work, defend the dignity of all working persons, encourage all to be responsible in their work, and celebrate the irreplaceable role that human work has in God's plan for creation. May God bless all who work tirelessly to provide for their families and are faithful stewards in the vineyard of the Lord.

World Day of Prayer for Vocations: Sunday, May 2nd
Today, Christians are invited to reflect on the meaning of God's call and pray for vocations. The whole Christian community shares the responsibility in fostering vocations. The first step is to live in a full Christian manner. Families with a lively spirit of faith, love and reverence contribute greatly to this work. Let us pray for vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life and to pray for all who live their vocation in single or married life.
On Thursday, May 13th , Steve Courtney will be ordained to the Deaconate at Sacred Heart Parish, Marystown. Please pray for Steve as he is sharing in a ministry that is challenging and yet very rewarding. May God bless all who are to be ordained this year. Please pray for all vocations.
