FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT
MARCH 28, 2004

Solidarity Sunday
This Sunday, we will celebrate Solidarity Sunday, a time for all of us to remember all those throughout our world who have less . We are very privileged in Canada to have all the basic necessities of life. The theme for this years celebration is " Thirsting For Justice ", to remind us that many throughout our world do not have the basics such as clean water. But they also thirst for education, health care, right to live in peace, to earn a livelihood and the right to vote. Let us pray for the needs of our world and to give generously to the Development and peace Collection.

Welcome to the Lord's Table
Parents and Guardians are asked to take their children to Communion for the first time as a family during the Easter season. Your child may come to communion for the first time beginning on Holy Thursday or any time after. Please call the parish office one week in advance and let us know the date and time your child will receive Eucharist so that we may acknowledge this in our parish bulletin. If you call the office and there is no one available, please leave your name and your child's name along with the time your child will receive first Eucharist.

Flowers For Easter
This is the time of year when we place our order for the supply of flowers for the Easter season. If you wish to donate to the purchase of these flowers in loving memory of your loved ones, please submit your donation to the office with the names of those you wish to pray for at the Easter liturgies. Thank you for your continued support.

Stations of the Cross: Good Friday
We will celebrate the stations of the cross on Good Friday at 7:00 p.m. These stations will be celebrated in Drama Form and it will be a very prayerful liturgy. I am very thankful to Mr. Des McCarthy who is coordinating this service along with a number of others who will assist. The way of the cross will be "acted out" by parishioners and a wonderful way for all of us to get a glimpse of the real meaning of the Stations of the Cross. This will be a powerful faith experience and I encourage all to attend. This liturgy does not replace the Service at 3:00 p.m. on Good Friday. The liturgy at 3:00 p.m. is the main liturgy of Good Friday.
Parish Penance Celebration
On Sunday, April 4th at 6:30 p.m., we will celebrate the sacrament of penance. This celebration will be similar to the one we had during Advent and it was a positive experience for many. Please gather for this celebration of Forgiveness as we cleanse our hearts from sin and anticipate the joy of Easter.Benefit Dance
On Saturday, March 27th at 9:30 p.m., a benefit dance will take place at St. Michael's Hall to raise funds to support Cathy Somerton( Berkley) to receive a kidney transplant in the very near future. We all are well aware that this is a major need and we hope that we can assist to help in this serious cause. No cover charge and all support is appreciated. For more information , call Joey Somerton.
Knights of Columbus/ St. Michael's Parish Ticket Sweep
The ticket sweep is progressing very well and I encourage parishioners to return ticket sales during the coming weeks. It is important for us to have all tickets returned so that we can have an understanding of the success of the ticket sales thus far.
Sympathy
Our parish extends sympathy to the family and friends of the late Aiden Power and Susan Hann. May our loved ones share in the promise of eternal life.
Please Return Rock
The Lenten Season is passing by very quickly and we are preparing for the Easter Celebrations. You are asked to return your Rock which you received on the first Sunday of Lent next weekend and we will use it to prepare the Cross for Good Friday. Please place your Rock in the basket provided at the entrances of the church. First Friday
