ST. MICHAEL’S PARISH

P.O. BOX 610 - BELL ISLAND, NF - A0A 4H0
PHONE: 488-2525 – FAX: 488-3399

Administrator: Fr. Wayne Dohey – Secretary: Jody Whalen

FOURTEENTH SUNDAY
July 4th, 2004

Focus: Peace is found in the loving arms of God.

We live in a world that suffers from an absence of peace. Instead of resting serenely with God and trusting in his loving concern for us; we often move away from God's peaceful presence. When the world turns frightening we can seek the shelter of our loving God like a trusting child will jump into the arms of a protective parent.

All tickets are sold for the dinner theatre and all plans are in place for a wonderful evening of entertainment. The evening will begin at 6:15 p.m. following our regular Saturday evening mass.

Welcome Home
Our parish extends a warm welcome home to all visitors, especially former Bell Islanders who are visiting for their vacation. We welcome you back home and hope you have a wonderful visit as you rekindle friendships and share the stories of the past.

Summer Vacation: Ministries
During the summer months, many of you will be away on weekends and enjoying a well deserved holiday. If you are unavailable to fulfill weekend ministries at the church, please find a substitute. Please do not leave this to the last minute because it is difficult to get someone to replace you a few minutes before mass. Thank you for your support.

Church Parking Lot
During the summer months it is normal that traffic will increase and the routine of parking near the church late in the evenings will become common. It is not a crime to stop and have a chat to your friends near the church but please do not throw garbage on the church grounds. It is a practice that those who stop near the church throw cigarette butts, drink bottles, papers etc all around the parking lot of church property. To those who park near church for a chat, please remind others to respect our property.

Office Hours
Our new parish secretary will work 9 hours per week at the following times: Tuesday -Thursday : 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you wish to request a certificate or complete other business, please call Jody during these hours. Thank you for your support.

CBW 111 Hymn Books
During the past year our parish purchased 250 hymn books for our church and most of them were donated in memorial of your loved ones. Your donation of $20.00 per book helped us purchase these books. However, we still have many hymn books available if you wish to have one donated in memory of a friend or family member. You may make your donation to the parish along with the name of your loved one and we will record the name of the deceased in the hymn book. Thank you for your support.
