EPIPHANY OF THE LORD
JANUARY 4, 2004

Focus: Jesus continues to be revealed to us today in our Christian brothers and sisters throughout the world.

The word epiphany means appearance or manifestation. Today we celebrate the manifestation of God to the world in the person of his son, Jesus Christ. In our Creed we proclaim that Jesus is "God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God." As we hear how the glory of the Lord shines upon us, we rejoice and give homage to God as did the Magi.

Thank You
The busy schedule of the Christmas holiday and the celebration of the beginning of a New Year has been a time of wonderful joy for family and friends. I trust it was a time of Peace for all and a great opportunity to renew family ties and friendship.

I sincerely thank all who offered kind words to me, shared Christmas cards and gave me gifts. Your kindness to me is truly appreciated and strengthens a wonderful feeling of being part of your family.

I wish to thank all who celebrated the many liturgies with us and helped in any way to decorate our church for the Christmas season. Your donation of flowers to our church in loving memory is also a beautiful gift to those who have gone to their eternal home in Heaven.

May the New Year be a time of renewed faith and a firm resolve for all of us to be active members of our church family and to serve Christ in the love we share with one another.

Youth Choir
Are you interested in joining a youth choir? We encourage youth of all ages to join our choir and bring along their musical instruments. We will involve all instruments in our choir and its up to you to participate. I am very thankful for the choir leaders who helped our youth choir at Christmas and I am hopeful it can continue. Bonnie Hammond has agreed to coordinate this youth choir and through the support of Mae French and Rosanne Grant we can have a wonderful youth choir throughout the year.
If you are interested, call the parish office. I encourage the parents to help get their son/daughter involved and help have a youth choir at least once a month at our church.

Community Volunteer Income Tax program
You can make a difference in your community. If you have experience in completing basic tax returns, enrol as a volunteer to complete income tax returns for people who need help. For more information , call 1-877-772-2879 no later than January 14, 2002.

PRAYER FOR LIFE

Almighty God, Giver of all that is good, we thank you for the precious gift of human life:

for life in the womb, coming from Your creative power;
for the life of children, making us glad with their freshness and promise;
for the life of young people, hoping for a better world;
for the life of people who are disabled, teaching us that every life has value;
for the life of the elderly, witnessing to the ageless values of patience and wisdom;

May we always say "YES!" to Your gift. May our lives witness to our respect for human life from conception to its natural end, from womb to tomb. We pray in Jesus name. Amen
