Nativity of the Lord - Solemnity
December 25th, 2004

Dear Parishioners and Friends:

The joyful feast of the Birth of Christ echoes the ancient message of Good News:

"A Child is born for us: He is Christ The King"

May the birth of Christ renew our desire to be a living sign of Christ in our family and community. During these days of the Christmas season, we gather with members of our family and we celebrate within our church family, the peace and love of the new born child, Jesus Christ.

Each year at this time, we remember the blessings of our past and we comfort one another for the sorrows and pain we have experienced. In the midst of all the joys and sorrows, the Christ Child knocks at the door of our hearts and proclaims:

"Today a Saviour is born: He is Emmanuel, which means: God With Us"

May the blessings of the birth of Christ bring peace, love an renewed faith within our daily living. May we continue to be a sign of Christ to others and allow the word of scripture to have meaning throughout the New Year:

"The Word became flesh and dwells amongst us."

On behalf of the Parish Pastoral Council, I offer you joyful blessings of the season and pray that all may experience the joy of the birth of Christ. May our beloved dead share in the eternal peace of heaven.
"May God, who sent his angels to the shepherds to herald the great joy of the "Saviour's birth, fill you with joy and make you heralds of His Gospel."

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Father Wayne Dohey

Nativity of the Lord - Solemnity
Focus: God invites us to trust even when we do not fully understand what is being asked of us.
All of us have aspects to our lives which are beyond our understanding. At times, such realities may scare us and we might wonder what will happen next. Such circumstances are the mysteries in our lives. God invites us repeatedly to trust in his love as we meet the unknowns and uncertainties which accompany our journey on this earth.

Flowers in Memory
A sincere thanks to all who donated flowers in memorial of their loved ones for the Christmas season. The names of the donors are recorded and acknowledged at the entrances of our church. If your name is not on the list, please call the office to remind us. As you can appreciate there are many people donating and therefore it is easy to miss one or several names. May all those whom we remember enjoy the Peace of God's Kingdom of Glory.
World Day of Peace: January 1st
The World day of Prayer for Peace is celebrated on January 1st. We should pause today to pray for World Peace and to remember all who serve throughout our world to be Peace Keepers. Let us pray for nations who are at war and may our leaders root our all acts of war and promote Peace.

Welcome Home
Our Parish extends a warm welcome home to the former parishioners and friends of the Island as you gather with family and friends for the Holy Season. We welcome all our youth who are home from other schools of study or employment and we trust you will enjoy your stay. Please enjoy the season and make it a time of family joy.
