EIGHTEENTH SUNDAY
AUGUST 1ST, 2004

Focus: We must seek our wealth in what matters to God.

Today's readings have direct application to us as we try to live our Christian vocation in the secular world. They speak of God who calls us to focus our attention on everlasting values, not on earthly vanities. In the end, the only riches that are worthwhile are lives so transformed be the word of God that we reach out to others in the Spirit of Christ.

Welcome Home

Our parish extends a warm welcome home to all visitors, especially former Bell Islanders who are visiting for their vacation. We welcome you back home and hope you have a wonderful visit as you rekindle friendships and share the stories of the past.

Parish Family Day- August 8th, 2:30
Parishioners and friends are invited to our annual Family Day and we trust it will be fun for all. The gathering will take place at the Parish hall with a variety of games for children and adults as well as hot dogs/hamburgers and pop for the children. If you plan to attend, parents/guardians are asked to stay with the children for the fun day. The intent of the celebration is to promote Family and to give thanks for the blessings we all share. It is a time to celebrate our parish family and enjoy each others company. All are welcome to share in the activity. If you are interested in helping organize the Parish Family Day, we need all your support to organize the activities for the children. If you have extra toys at home, please drop them off to the church or parish house and we can distribute the toys to the children during the Family Day as prizes for the winners for the many activities.

Office Hours
The parish office hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you need assistance please call at those hours or else you may try at other times but I am not always in the office.

Visitation of Sick / Shut In's
Due to a wedding in my family on Friday, I will visit the sick and the shut in's of our parish on Thursday, August 12th, instead of the first Friday of the month. Please remember that this will be in two weeks time.
