THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER
APRIL 25, 2004

Focus: The faithful reflect God's power to the world.

The angels proclaim in heaven that the slain Lamb is worthy of all honour, glory and power. The first disciples were quick to make clear that they had power to baptize and heal only because of the power of God. All the glory and honour that they received, they credited to God. It is God's will and plan that must be our guide as well.

All members of our town are invited to attend and take time to pray. May our time of prayer help to renew a spirit of hope for world peace.

Welcome To The Lord's Table
Our parish extends a warm welcome to: Farzeine Michael Maloney and Thomas Bartlett who are coming to the Lord's table for the first time. May the Lord bless you on this special day and may you and your family know the great love God has for you.

Archbishop ‘s Pastoral Visit
Due to the strike, it was not possible for the archbishop to visit our parish to celebrate the sacrament of confirmation. He regrets not being able to visit but he will make a pastoral visit to our parish on Saturday, May 15th for the 5:00 p.m. mass. I encourage as many parishioners as possible to gather for this celebration. It is important for us to remind the bishop by our presence at church that we value our church and we are in strong support of maintaining our church and clergy in our parish. I also encourage our youth to attend mass and together celebrate our faith with the Chief Shepard of our archdiocese, the Most Reverend Brendan O' Brien.

Rosary Celebration
The Knights of Columbus of St. John's and the surrounding areas invite the general public to join them for a Rosary celebration and a candlelight procession that will take place at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist, Friday, May 7, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Congratulations
Our parish extends congratulations and blessings to our newly confirmed. I wish to thank all who participated in the celebration of the sacrament of confirmation this past week and to all who helped with the many decorations of the church and parish hall. I am also very thankful to all who helped make our liturgy one of praise and celebration. I encourage all our newly confirmed to participate in our weekly Sunday liturgy and to become active members of our faith community. To all our newly confirmed, I ask that you gather at the church for Saturday mass on May 15th so that you may have the opportunity to meet the archbishop.

Adult Choir
All members of our choir are asked to gather for a practice on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. It is important for our choir to have a regular practice as we try to become more familiar with our new hymn books. Please make a special effort to attend.
