ST. MICHAEL’S PARISH

P.O. BOX 610 - BELL ISLAND, NF - A0A 4H0
PHONE: 488-2525 – FAX: 488-3399

Administrator: Fr. Wayne Dohey – Secretary: Cindy Foley

TWENTY-THIRD SUNDAY
SEPTEMBER 7, 2003

Focus: Be open to hearing what God is asking of you and be willing to speak his message to all around you.

How do we hear what God is asking of us? Moses heard Yahweh in the thunder while on the mountain and led the Chosen People to the Promised Land. Elijah heard the Lord in a tiny whispering sound and preached God's message to Judah. We hear God when we listen to Jesus–feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give shelter to the homeless. This is how we speak the message of God.

I am very thankful for the wonderful friendship I shared with Father Doug during the past year and I am appreciative for his reverence and respect for the church.
We pray that Father Doug and his family will continue to reap the blessings of the Lord in his new ministry and we give praise and thanks for his faithful service and fine Christian example. May God bless Father Doug and his family.

Home Religion Program/ Sacramental Preparation
The religious education for our children is the sole responsibility of the parents / guardians . The role of the parish is to provide the religious materials and coordinate the families to participate in the program.
Children: Age 5 & 6 are invited to participate in the year 1 program.
Children: Age 7 or older can participate in the year 2 program which includes first Eucharist.
Children: Age 8 can participate in the year 3 program which includes First Penance.
Children: Age 9 or older can participate in the Confirmation Program.

Please note that these age groups are flexible. It is up to the parents/guardians to ask to have their child register for a particular program. The main difference this year is that the religion program will be completed at home and once per month we will meet with the parents/guardians to evaluate their progress. For further information, call Karen Seward 488 - 2560 or the parish office 488-2525. Registration Forms are available at the parish office or at the church. Please complete the form and submit a fee of $10.00 so that the parish can purchase the materials required for each child
