TWENTY SEVENTH SUNDAY
October 5, 2003

Focus: May the Lord bless us all the days of our lives.

Today's psalm captures the reality of God's relationship with those who believe. We know God's blessings most powerfully through our intimate relationships. The love of a man and a woman consecrated in marriage, and the love of a parent for a child are powerful images of God's love. Fidelity to those we love and to God is a source of the Lord's blessing, all the days of our lives.

I will be in town for the early days of the week for Mass at the Senior Homes and to participate in the Pastoral Days for Priests on Monday and Tuesday. I will be away from the parish from October 9th until 17th. It has been a busy summer and I just want to get a break before the schedule gets too busy.

Ministry Sunday
Sincere thanks to all who registered for our Ministry Sunday. When I return back from my holidays, I will meet with the various groups who minister in our parish and give to you a copy of the ministry schedule.

Hall Rental
Our parish hall is available for rent as you celebrate the special events in your life. Please call the parish office and discuss the rental fee. Your support to the parish by renting our hall facility is much appreciated.
Financial Update
Once again we give you an update on the financial administration of our parish. Since our last update we have continued to improve our parish properties with the following: we have renovated the room in our church located below the sacristy with the installation of a new washroom; we have painted the hall way in the parish hall and sections of the main hall; continued improvements to our cemetery during the summer months; and we have completed various works around the priests residence.
The financial picture of the parish is positive and we look forward to your continued support. At the present time, with all bills paid, we have $ 21,366.85 in our parish operating account. This is a very good financial standing and we must continue to seek your support. The weather will continue to get cold and therefore the heating costs will increase. Our insurance bill for the year has increased by $900.00 and therefore our total insurance bill for the year is $9,080.00. The cost to operate the parish is very high and we must continue to be cautious with our spending and always fundraising because our weekly collection is not enough to meet our regular monthly payments. In summary, I thank you for your excellent support. I invite all parishioners to support the parish and for those who do not support our parish financially, I hope they will make a financial contribution when they use the church for weddings, funerals, baptisms and other events in their lives. Please continue to be generous. At the end of the year a more detailed financial statement will be available .
