Knights of Columbus
On Thursday, October 30th at 7:30 p.m. , the Knights of Columbus will
celebrate the rite of installation for their new executive for the year.
Following the installation ceremony all parishioners and friends are
invited to our parish hall for a social. Please take time to gather for
this celebration and help promote the work and true spirit of the Knights
of Columbus.
All members of the Knights of Columbus executive are asked to attend a
rehearsal on Tuesday, October 28th at 7:30 p.m.
Building up the Kingdom of God
The dates set in the archdiocese for the Archdiocesan appeal is
November 1st - 16th . Your donation will help us provide comfort to the
sick in hospital; put our gifts at the service of seniors; bring God's
love to those in prison; provide counsel and direction for our university
students. We don't give because we have a lot and can afford it, we give
because of a desire to share what we have with others. During the weekend
of November 1st and 2nd, we will have a second collection to help with our
contribution to the archdiocese for this important financial campaign to
help with the pastoral care in our local church.
Halloween
Hope the kids have a safe and enjoyable Halloween. You are most
welcome to drop by my home and hopefully I can offer a few treats to the
kids. During the evening of Halloween , members of the Knights of Columbus
will be patrolling our streets and ensuring that all kids are safe .
Home Religion Program
We have completed registration for those who are seeking to participate in
the Home Religion Program for this year. It is necessary for us to order
the materials required for the program and during the coming week I will
update the parents/guardians of the dates for the meetings concerning the
programs. Please refer to the bulletin for all information concerning the
Home Religion Program.
Parish Finances
During the past week the parish terminated employment for Mr. Tom Cole.
Since the busy schedule of work for the summer is complete, Mr. Cole will
be available on a part time basis for the Winter months. I wish to thank
Tom for his excellent work and faithful dedication to the parish.
As you may have noticed our income for the weekly collection is not as
high as it was during the summer. I ask all parishioners to please support
the parish to the best of your ability. Our parish expenses are very high
. Our insurance bill for 2003 - 2004 is $9,080.00 and we must also meet
the expenses for snow clearing which will be another $5000.00. Therefore ,
I am sure you understand the reason for us all to be sensitive to the
importance of supporting our parish financially.

Farewell : Father Doug Barrett
On Sunday, October 26th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Cyprian's Church , Father Doug
Barrett will celebrate Eucharist of Thanksgiving before he leaves the
Island to take up his new pastoral appointment in New Brunswick. We offer
our best wishes to Father Doug and his family and we thank them for their
faithful service and kindness to us as a parish family. You are invited to
attend the celebration and a social will follow after the liturgy.
Memorial Mass: Tuesday, November 4th
On Tuesday, November 4th at 7:00 p.m. , we will have a Memorial Mass for
all those who died in our parish during the past year. You are invited to
share in this celebration and if you wish, you may light a candle in
loving memorial. For those who have loved ones who have died elsewhere ,
you may also light a candle and take time to pray . Since the month of
November is traditionally the month of the Holy Souls, it is important
that we remember all our beloved dead . Let us invite all parishioners and
friends and together pray for our faithful departed. Following the mass, a
social will take place at our parish hall.
