NOVEMBER 2, 2003

Focus: By following God's will, we receive all good things including, in the end, eternal life!

Most of us will admit that, although life has its share of suffering, life is also full of good things. How often, however, do we enjoy the good gifts of this without thinking much about the Giver? God is the source of life and, for the believer, the goal; therefore, God should be the primary focus of our lives. If this is so, all good things will follow, even life eternal!

Building Up the Kingdom of God in our Local Church
Our religious communities generously contribute to the cost for pastoral care in our archdiocese. In addition to this, the archbishop must find over $100,000 to continue these ministries. During this annual campaign , our parish has been asked to raise $750.00. We invite parishioners to place your offering in the collection this weekend. Envelopes are available at the back of the church and we ask that if you cannot contribute this week that you do so during the coming weeks. For everything is from God , and we only give what we have already received from Him.

Fall Fair
In order to help make our Fall Fair a success, we ask for your support. You are invited to donate to our Sale of Works with knitted goods and crafts to help raise some funds and to donate to our bake sale. Your spirit of generosity is much appreciated and we ask that you drop off your donation at the church or presbytery during the coming weeks.
All tickets sales for the suppers must be returned this weekend. The reason for tickets to be returned is to give the ladies the time to order the necessary foods for the dinners. Thank you for your support.

November: Month of the Holy Souls
During the month of November we will place the Book of Remembrance at the entrance of our church and you are invited to record the name of your loved ones in the book and we will pray for them at our weekly masses. Please take time to pray for the dead and together remember the wonderful people who have influenced our lives.
On Sunday, November 2nd, we will celebrate the Feast of the Holy Souls and this is the opportune time to visit our cemetery and pray for our loved ones.
First Friday: Visitation of Sick/Shut In's
On Friday, we will visit the sick and the shut in's of the parish. Please prepare for our visit and remember it may be after lunch before we visit all the sick since I have a celebration at the school the same morning. It is not necessary or is it required that the sick and the elderly fast before they receive communion.

Communion Rite
Sincere thanks for your kindness in following the new directive concerning the communion rite during mass. It is important that we come to communion " row after row" or " pew after pew" so that it is not rushed and appropriate respect is given to all. Please continue to let the person seated ahead of you to come to communion first and then you follow accordingly.

In Loving Memorial
Many parishioners have asked: Is there anything you need for the church that we can donate in memory of a member of our family who have died? If you are interested in making a donation , I wish to invite parishioners or a family to consider donating the following. We are hoping to buy a Chrismatory Set. The purpose of this set is to put Holy Oil in and they will be placed near the altar. These are glass jars with the name of the oils etched into the glass. We need one container for the Oil for the Sick; one container for the oil for baptism and one glass to hold the oil used for confirmation.
These containers are very costly: $250.00 per set or $ 100.00 individually. If you wish to donate these items, you may contact the parish office. Perhaps several families can consider this donation and we will use these sacred vessels for many years and thus it can be a wonderful way to remember your loved ones.

Knights of Columbus
The next general meeting for the Knights of Columbus will take place on Friday, November 14th at 8:00 p.m. All members of the council are asked to attend. The meeting for the executive will take place on Thursday, November 13th at 8:00 p.m. Your presence at these meetings is very important or else the future life of the council will continue to weaken. Please make a special effort to attend.

Memorial Mass : Tuesday, November 4th at 7:00 p.m.
All parishioners and friends are asked to gather for our Memorial Mass as we remember our beloved dead. We invite parishioners and friends to light a candle in loving memorial and together pray that our loved ones may share in the joy of resurrection. Following the mass, a social will take place at the parish hall.
