THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER
MAY 4, 2003

Focus: After his Resurrection, Jesus commands the Apostles to be his witnesses.

In a courtroom the word witness has a twofold meaning: One who has seen an event take place, and one who is willing to testify to the truth of what was seen. We have a fundamental duty and opportunity to bear witness in our actions and words that Christ is risen and lives in us. Together we proclaim; "Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ will come again."

Knights of Columbus: Election of New Executive: May 10th
A very important meeting of the Knights of Columbus will take place on Saturday, May 10th at 7:00 p.m. at the parish hall. The purpose of this meeting is the election of a new executive. During the past year, we have done major work as members of the Knights of Columbus which include: Family Days, Christmas Celebrations, Church Ministries, Praying Rosary at wake services, Youth Scholarships, Cemetery Clean Up and much more. Therefore, we need continued support to help make it grow stronger.
If you wish to give purpose to the Knights , join the party and offer your talent. It is of no value to stay on the side lines and say: They do nothing. We invite you to attend the meeting and offer your talent and wisdom as a member of the executive.

Blue Ecumenical Service
On Thursday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m., our parish family in cooperation with the Knights of Columbus will honour the faithful service of the local Fire Department and the Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. This celebration is in recognition of the outstanding service of these individual groups and we are proud to acknowledge their service. Following the service at the church, we will gather at the parish hall for a social and entertainment. All parishioners and friends are invited.

Knights of Columbus/ St. Michael's Parish Ticket Sweep
It is with delight that I salute all who supported the wonderful success of our ticket sweep. At this time all tickets should be returned and if not..........you have just a few days left to return them . During the coming weeks, we will have a complete update of the financial success of the sweep along with a list of the lucky winners. A copy of the winners list and a letter of appreciation will be available to all who sold and supported our efforts with this major project. The success of this sweep was made possible by members of the Knights of Columbus as well as a major credit to the regular parishioners and friends of our parish. It is because of your support that our parish can complete improvements to our properties this summer and offer fun and games for the kids at no expense.

Sympathy
Our parish family extends sympathy to the family and friends of the late Madeline Lake. May she who was faithful to her God be rewarded with the promise of eternal life.

Parish Council Nominations
For the past years, the present Parish Pastoral Council has offered their faithful service to the care of the many pastoral and financial concerns of our parish. I wish to thank all members of the present council for their invaluable service and I highly recommend they continue to provide leadership for our community.

It is important that we continue to invite new members to the council and help infuse new ideas and direction for our parish. Parishioners are invited to nominate names of those whom you wish to serve on council. However, before you nominate a person , you must have their permission and the person you nominate must be in good standing with the church. It is important that the person(s) you nominate are practising their faith and are of the age of 15 years. Please acknowledge on your nomination form the age and school level of the youth you have nominated for the council. Also, the other organizations such as Knights of Columbus, St. Michael's Ladies and Sisters of Mercy will be represented on council.
Please submit the names of the person(s ) you wish to nominate no later than next weekend. All nominations must be received by Noon on Sunday, May 11th. Please submit the form below to the church next weekend.
