World Day of Prayer
On Friday, March 7th at 7:00 p.m. we will celebrate the World day of Prayer. This day of prayer is an international ecumenical movement of prayer and action. On this day, Christians of all denominations come together to pray and take action in solidarity with all people. The theme of our service is: Holy Spirit: Fill Us , and it is solidarity with the people of Lebanon. All are welcome. Please extend a special invitation to your friends of other church traditions. During this prayer service, a collection will take place and the offering forwarded to the Women's Inter - Church Council of Canada, which provides grants to deserving projects.

Ash Wednesday : March 5th, 2003
On Ash Wednesday we stand as sinners before God. We reflect on our misdeeds of the past and on the ill habits of our present. Our frail spirits wrestle with sin, even as our frail bodies fight of death. We accept ashes as a reminder of our mortality. We fast from food as a sign of our sorrow.
In our lives, sin brings sorrow. Sin brings estrangement from the people we love , guilt when we lift our eyes to heaven , loss to a world starved for charity. Can you imagine yourself living your life a better way? In the quiet of your heart, do you know what sin is darkening your sky? Are you willing to name it, specifically?
Accept ashes. Fast from food. Repent.

FOCUS: The life of a Christian calls for a heart which is led by the spirit.

As promised by Jesus, his followers were not left alone after he ascended to heaven. Rather, the Holy Spirit came to guide them in all truth concerning the kingdom of God. The Spirit guides us by residing in our hearts. To be a follower of Christ, our hearts must be open and attentive to the promoting of the Spirit.

Appeal for Fasting and Prayer for Peace
On Wednesday, March 5th , the beginning of the Lenten Season, Pope John Paul The Second has asked all Catholics to dedicate with all intensity a special day of fasting and prayer for the cause of Peace especially in the Middle East. Please take time to pray the Rosary on this day and through the intercession of our Blessed Lady, may peace reign.

Sacrament of Penance
Lent is a beautiful season to celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation. If you wish to celebrate reconciliation, it will be available before weekday mass and at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. There will be no general absolution during the Lenten Season. It is not permitted by the archdiocese. Therefore, I am not permitted to celebrate this rite. However, we will take time as a community during the Lenten season to express sorrow and pray for forgiveness as we anticipate the Easter celebrations.

Knights of Columbus and Confirmation Candidates
During the coming weeks the youth who are to be confirmed this year will assist the Knights of Columbus with the collection at our weekend liturgies. I am asking the Knights to coordinate the youth and direct them to be part of this ministry. It is important that we encourage the youth to participate and hopefully as they grow older they will continue to share in the ministry of collector. I remind the Knights that this is not excluding them to be part of this ministry but it will demand more of them to help direct and welcome our youth to be part of the ministry of collector.
Badger Disaster Fund
You are invited to donate to the Badger Disaster Fund. You may place your offering in the basket at the main entrance of our church. This offering will be forwarded to the appropriate agency during the coming week. Thank you for you support.

Lenten Folders
Parishioners are encouraged to take a Lenten Folder and contribute to the many needs of our parish . Lent is a time of self sacrifice and perhaps your giving can be a sign of your faithful concern to the financial needs of your parish. You may take a folder home with you and they are available at the back of the church.

Church Opens
During the Lenten Season the church will be open daily. The church will remain open following the 9:30 a.m. mass or else it will open 10:00 a.m. Please take time to visit the Blessed Sacrament and pray the stations of the cross.

St. Patrick's Day Weekend
The schedule is set for our St. Patrick's Day Weekend. During the weekend we will have a host of activities and I hope you can support the cause. Please plan for the following events and encourage others to share in the celebrations. It's only because of your support that we can help the parish financially and help build a family spirit.

Saturday, March 15th : Irish Stew Supper. & Dance at Night: Music by Shirley Murphy
