ST. MICHAEL’S PARISH

P.O. BOX 610 - BELL ISLAND, NF - A0A 4H0
PHONE: 488-2525 – FAX: 488-3399

Administrator: Fr. Wayne Dohey – Secretary: Cindy Foley

FIFTH SUNDAY
FEBRUARY 9, 2003

Focus: As Christians we have been given certain duties; we also have been given the promise of eternal life.

Life in Christ does not separate us from the world. Rather, it implants within us a mission and a purpose as we live in this world. As faithful servants of the Lord, we must possess a sense of duty in fulfilling our Christian calling. Fidelity to our mission, even in the midst of trials, gives us the hope of eternal life with God in his kingdom.

World Day of Prayer for the Sick: Tuesday, February 11th
On Tuesday, February 11th we will celebrate the World Day of Prayer for the Sick. The ministry to the sick is central to the life of the church. This day of prayer reminds us of the service to the sick and suffering cannot be neglected. It recognizes the great efforts of doctors, nurses, health care givers to restore health to all who are afflicted with illness and disease.

If you wish to celebrate the rite of anointing to be renewed and strengthened in your health, pease join us for our liturgy on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. During this liturgy we will celebrate the rite of anointing and pray for all our sick and elderly.

Renewal of Marriage Vows
On Friday, February 14th we celebrate Valentine's Day. This is a day to renew our love for each other and in a special way a time to renew vows to married life. During the weekend of February 15th and 16th, you are invited to renew your marriage vows. If you are interested in sharing in this renewal of vows, please call the office and we will be delighted to celebrate it with you at our weekend masses. It may be considered " not the thing to do" to renew your marriage vows but I believe it can be a great witness to others to appreciate and respect the sacrament of marriage.

Just a Thought
Please continue to help with the church cleaning. We are in need of extra volunteers. Please call the office and offer your help. It only takes two hours of your time once every month.
