PRESENTATION OF THE LORD
FEBRUARY 2, 2003

Focus: Jesus is the King of glory and light to the world.

Today's Feast of the Presentation of the Lord illustrates the importance of ritual within the life of the Jewish community. For us as well, ritual actions express a profound meaning in a simple act and draw us deeper into the mystery which we celebrate Rituals help define our identity.

Parish Bingo : See you at the hall

On Sunday, February 2nd at 2:30 p.m. at the parish hall, you are asked to support our monthly parish bingo. This is one of the major fund-raisers for our parish which will help offset the high costs of heat, light, and other needs of the parish for the month. If you do not play bingo on a regular basis, please make an effort to support this cause. If you do not wish to play bingo, you may make a donation. If our parish is to maintain its good financial standing, I invite you to help with this fundraising effort. Hope to see you at the hall. A complete list of prizes are displayed at the foyer of the church or at our main businesses in the town.
First Eucharist Meeting
Parents / Guardians of children preparing for First Eucharist are asked to attend a meeting on Thursday, February 6th at 7:30 p.m. at the parish hall. Please use the entrance at the hall.

Sympathy
Our parish extends sympathy to the families and friends of the late Mary Stoyles, Thomas Tremblett and Enid Cahill. We assure the families of our continued prayers and we pray that our loved ones will share fully in the peace of God's Kingdom.

Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

This weekend we will celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. This celebration celebrates Christ as the Light of the World, a light to enlighten the nations. During this liturgy we will bless candles as we remember the powerful symbol of the light of Christ. If you wish to purchase a candle, they cost $2.00 . The church continues to keep the long tradition of Candlemas day.
Also, before and after mass today, we will have the blessing of throats which is also the anticipated feast of St. Blaze who is known for the healing of throats.

Counselling Services

Are you in need of professional counselling related to any matter of your personal or family life? For further information, call the Family Life Bureau, 579 - 0168 and ask for Sr. Loretta Walsh.

Canadian Cancer Society

Have you been touched by cancer? A monthly emotional support group of sharing and listening will take place on Wednesday, February 12th 7:30 p.m. in the Crosbie Building, Crosbie Road. For more information, call 753 - 6700.
Also, on Wednesday, February 19th at 7:30 p.m. a series of talks will begin: " Lifestyle Choices to Support Your Cancer Care". No cost and everyone is welcome. Call 753 - 6700.
Religious Article Room

During the past week we had the room located behind the main altar (religious article room) painted. Also, we will place a curtain as the main backdrop behind the altar in the same room to help make the space more reverent for our weekday masses. Please drop by the room and appreciate the continued improvements to our parish due to your kindness and generosity.

Sanctuary Candle

If you wish to light a sanctuary candle for a fee of $5.00 in memory of your loved one, you must submit the name of the loved one to the parish several weeks in advance. There are many who request to light the candle in memorial and we accept them as they are requested. The candle will burn in memorial for one week.
