ST. MICHAEL’S PARISH P.O. BOX 610 - BELL ISLAND, NF - A0A 4H0 Administrator: Fr. Wayne Dohey – Secretary: Cindy Foley FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT Focus: Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken by the Lord would be fulfilled. Today's readings are filled with examples of hope. Micah lived during hard times for Israel, yet, he kept hope alive in the people that God would send a new and great ruler. That hope was fulfilled in Jesus, who came to do the will of his Father. Jesus sanctifies all people by his sacrifice. Mary listened, trusted with all her heart, and responded with total openness to all that God asked of her.

Parish Penance Celebration On Sunday, December 21st at 6:30 p.m. we will celebrate the sacrament
of penance for the Advent season. This celebration is individual
confession but it will involve a special prayer service before
confessions. Since we are not permitted to have general absolution , you
are invited to the service and it is your choice to participate in the
individual confession following the reading of scripture and the
examination of conscience. Advent Folders Parishioners are asked to return their advent folders to the parish
during the coming weeks. Thanks to all who supported the parish through
this kind offering. Flowers In Memory If you wish to make a monetary donation to help purchase flowers in
memorial of your loved ones for the Christmas season, please do so during
the coming weeks. Your offering will be recorded and the mass intentions
for your loved ones will be remembered during the Christmas masses. Please
place your offering in an envelope with the name of your loved one and we
will purchase the flowers. Thank you for your kindness. Welcome Home Our parish extends a warm welcome to all who have returned home to be
with family and friends for the Holidays. We hope you enjoy your stay as
you celebrate the joy of Christmas.
It is with deep gratitude to Almighty God that I recall the wonderful relationship I enjoyed over a five year period with the RC community on Bell Island. Your many kindnesses and warm friendliness will be long remembered. This, surely, is at the very heart of Christianity; that we love one another. As the Holy Season of Advent swiftly draws to its close, and we prepare to celebrate the birth in time of the timeless Son of God, it is my prayer, and that of my wife, that you all enjoy the happiest, holiest Christmas ever! A very merry Christmas to St. Michael's Parish, and their Pastor, one of the finest priests I have ever had the privilege to know, my friend, Father Wayne Dohey. Yours in the faith of our common Lord and Saviour |
