ST. MICHAEL’S PARISH

P.O. BOX 610 - BELL ISLAND, NF - A0A 4H0
PHONE: 488-2525 – FAX: 488-3399

Administrator: Fr. Wayne Dohey – Secretary: Cindy Foley

EIGHTEENTH SUNDAY
AUGUST 3, 2003

Focus: Jesus said, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger..."

God continuously loves and cares for us even though, sometimes, we are ungrateful and grumble and complain when our prayers are not answered as we would like. Jesus reminds us not to work for perishable food, but for the spiritual food which gives us eternal life–Jesus is the Bread of Life.

Summer Vacation
During the coming days, many of our family and friends who have returned home for the summer vacation will return back to their places of residence and employment. We wish all a safe journey and we thank you for your continued support to our parish and town. If we can be of assistance, please feel free to call. Let us continue to pray for each other.

Family Day
Are you interested in helping organize the Parish Family Day? We need your support to organize the activities for the kids. If you are interested, please meet at the church on Tuesday, August 5th at 7:30 p.m . Let's make it a wonderful celebration.
If you have extra kids toys at home that are no longer of value, you may donate them to the parish and we can give them out to the kids during the family day. You may drop these items off at the church or parish house at your convenience. We hope that we can have various games/activities during the Family Day and your generosity can help with the much needed prizes. Recycling is a wonderful invention.

Pilgrimage to Flat Rock Shrine
The Legion of Mary invites all the faithful to Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto at Flat Rock next Sunday, August 10th at 4:00 p.m. Archbishop W. A. Carew, retired Apostolic Nuncio will give a homily on the Rosary and devotion to the Mother of God. If the weather is unfavourable, the ceremony will be held at Flat Rock church. All are welcome.

Thank You
The cemetery and Grotto site at Lance Cove have been given much care during the past few weeks. I sincerely thank the many volunteers who helped as well as our parish workers. I wish to thank Mr. Gary Gosine for the use of his truck to haul gravel for the road near the grotto site as well as Mr. Wayne Kent (driver) and Mr. Bob Hammond who generously loaded the truck with his equipment. During the past few months Mr. Tom Stoyles has co-ordinated the improvements to the Grotto and for this we say : Thank You.

Parish Office Hours
The secretary is available for office hours: Wednesday and Thursday: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During the past few weeks the office hours changed due to the fact the secretary's dad died and she has been sick. We apologize for any inconvenience.
