PHONE: 488-2525 – FAX: 488-3399

Administrator: Fr. Wayne Dohey – Secretary: Cindy Foley

TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY
AUGUST 24, 2003

Focus: To believe is a decision; we decide whom we will serve–God or self–by the way we live each day.

Both Joshua and Jesus ask us to renew our decision to place our faith in God. Faith is an ever-deepening living in the revelation of God's mysterious ways. Each step along the journey of faith offers and demands a new decision on our part. Habit, inattention or routine may deaden the awareness required for choosing rightly.

Family Day
Last Sunday we celebrated Family Day and it was a wonderful success. I sincerely appreciate the generosity of all who helped make it possible. I thank the members of the Knights of Columbus who shared in the many activities and made a donation of $150.00 towards the financial costs of the day. There were approximately 150 people who attended and we had plenty of food and prizes for all. Once again, I give thanks to all who attended and helped make our Family Day special.

Newly Renovated
During the past week we renovated the washroom in our church which is located in the room below the sacristy. The space is much improved compared to the old and we are very thankful to those who completed the project.
Sincere thanks to Mr. Bob Hammond who provided the equipment required to install the piping for the washroom. This donation is much appreciated and helps ease the financial costs to complete the project.
Thank You
Our parish extends a sincere thank you to the youth who were employed with the parish during the summer months. I sincerely thank Robert Seward and Greg Kent who done a wonderful job and truly completed all work with excellence. I also wish to thank the youth from other organizations in the town who assisted the parish during the summer. Congratulations to all and good luck in your studies .

Registration Forms
Home Religion Program/ Sacramental Preparation
The religious education for our children is the sole responsibility of the parents / guardians . The role of the parish is to provide the religious materials and coordinate the families to participate in the program.

Children: Age 5 & 6 are invited to participate in the year 1 program.
Children: Age 7 or older can participate in the year 2 program which includes first Eucharist.
Children: Age 8 can participate in the year 3 program which includes First Penance.
Children: Age 9 or older can participate in the Confirmation Program.

Please note that these age groups are flexible. It is up to the parents/guardians to ask to have their child register for a particular program. The main difference this year is that the religion program will be completed at home and once per month we will meet with the parents/guardians to evaluate their progress. For further information, call Karen Seward 488 - 2560 or the parish office 488-2525. Registration Forms are available at the parish office or at the church. Please complete the form and submit a fee of $10.00 so that the parish can purchase the materials required for each child.Smoking Addiction
The Newfoundland and Labrador Lung association offers counselling to support those who are trying to quit smoking. If you need advise or support, please call: 1-800-5864. It is a great time to quit smoking and improve ones health.
