Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord

What's new? That's what we ask when we want to hear a story. Stories celebrate the great moments of life. When you hear one, it fills you with delight. When you tell one, you fulfill an inner desire to share what has shaped your life anew.
After Jesus rose from the dead, the disciples did not wait for the people to ask, What's new? They proudly proclaimed it: " God raised Jesus on the third day and granted that he be visible to us witnesses." Now, that's new!
If you have kept a good Lent, you know what is very well with you. You are what is new. You have faced your sin, admit your fault, and accepted your dependence on God's help. You have prayed and fasted with the community. You have loved your neighbour. Because you have emptied a place inside yourself, you have created a space for God to enter. Christ is Risen indeed, and He has appeared to you! You are now a witness to all of what God can do.
This Easter Day, tell your story. Tell your faith. Let joy radiate from your face and loosen your tongue. Jesus lives!

Easter Greetings
As we celebrate the joy and blessings of the Easter Season, I pray that the Risen Lord may bless you and your family. Easter is the celebration of Jesus Christ Rising from the dead and for this we proclaim the hope of all Christians. As a parish family we give thanks for the many ways the Lord has Risen in our lives especially through our many acts of charity and our commitment to be faithful to the Eucharist. May each of you experience the love of Christ and so be filled with His abundant peace.

Happy Easter.

Properties Clean Up
It's the time of the year when all the snow is quickly melting away (not fast enough) and the grounds are showing the need to be cleaned. During the coming weeks , please begin the process of cleaning up the resting places of your loved ones. Our cemeteries will be a main priority for clean up and improvement this summer. Last summer when I arrived , we began to remove old fences in the cemetery that were in terrible condition. This summer we will continue the work and to those who have not removed old and poor quality fences in the cemetery, we will do it for you this summer if you do not care for it yourself. Our cemeteries must be a place of greatest respect and we will do our part to make it a reality.

Lenten Folders
Please make a special effort to submit your Lenten Folder offering during the coming weeks. Your offering is much appreciated and it will be very helpful to improve our properties during the coming months.

Blue Ecumenical Service
On Thursday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m., our parish family in cooperation with the Knights of Columbus will honour the faithful service of the local Fire Department and the Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. This celebration is in recognition of the outstanding service of these individual groups and we are proud to acknowledge their service. Following the service at the church, we will gather at the parish hall for a social and entertainment. All parishioners and friends are invited.

Knights of Columbus/St Michael's Parish Ticket Sweep
Please forward your ticket sales to the Knights of Columbus or the Parish Office during the coming week. We need your full support and we definitely need your ticket stub and money. Please help make this project a success. The deadline for tickets to be returned is April 27th.

New Sign: He Is Risen, Alleluia
Our new Ester sign in front of our church proclaims: He Is Risen, Alleluia. I wish to extend a sincere thanks to Mr. Frank Pendergast who donated $225.00 to purchase the sign. Mr. Pendergast has donated two of the signs in front of our church and we are very thankful.

Collection for Hutchings Family
Sincere thanks to all who donated last weekend to our collection in aid of the family who lost their home due to fire. Our total donation was: $204.30. Let us offer our continued support to all who are in need.Thank You

Sincere thanks to Rosanne Grant and those who assisted in decorating the altar for the Sundays of the Lenten Season. As you recall every week there was a different symbol placed before the altar which reminded us of the theme of the readings for the liturgy. It was a wonderful piece of work and as usual, faithful service.

Sacramental Preparation Completed
We have completed the sacramental preparation program for the sacraments of Eucharist, Penance and Confirmation. I offer sincere thanks to Karen Seward who coordinated the preparation program for Eucharist and Penance. I also thank Sister Dorothy and Kevin George (JR) who coordinated the confirmation program. You work is much appreciated and we salute you for your spirit of generosity to our youth and the whole parish. To all our youth and families who shared in these programs, I encourage you to continue to be faithful to the mass and please do not stop because the program is completed.

PARKING LANES : PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK
Many parishioners continue to question me : "why do I not stop vehicles from blocking the emergency lanes at the church"? I can only say: I have asked many, many times for respect of the fire lanes and for other emergency vehicles to have full access to our property. I do not wish to be a traffic cop, so I beg you to please ensure safety is considered at all times . Our parish is liable for safety and if traffic continues to block emergency lanes we may have no choice but to have the police issue tickets for illegal parking. It will be too late when a serious emergency happens and we have neglected in our duty to prevent a tragedy. Please remember, I am trying to prevent the parish from having a lawsuit in court in the event that we failed to have fire or other emergency vehicles access our property or to access private homes which are located behind our church. Double parking is not permitted on the property near the statue of our Blessed Mother and the sign at the main entrance.
