TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY
SEPTEMBER 29, 2002

FOCUS: Our love of God is shown in our actions more so than in appearances.

Because of God's gift of free will, we are able to say yes or no to God. We also have the freedom and ability to repent of our sins and change the direction of our lives. We are responsible for our conduct and accountable for our behaviour. The test of our allegiance to Christ is in keeping the promises that we have made and in accepting God's will– whatever it may be

Ministry Sunday

Sincere thanks to all who registered for the many ministries within our parish. During the coming weeks I will meet with the various groups and have a workshop concerning the ministry you are involved with. If you have registered for the ministry of Presentation of Gifts/Offertory , Altar Server , Church Cleaning etc., you will be contacted during the coming weeks. Thank you for your kindness in sharing in the many ministries in our parish and others are encouraged to do the same. We are in need of three other persons who can assist with the cleaning of the church . If we can get three others, this will mean that your group will be required to clean the church only once per month. Please offer your help.

Sacramental Program Registration

All youth who will celebrate the sacraments of Eucharist, Penance and Confirmation must be registered by October 11th. Following this date, a meeting will take place to inform the parents/guardians of our preparation for the program.

All parents who have children preparing for First Eucharist are encouraged to participate in the Offertory Procession ( bringing up the bread and wine at mass ) at our weekend masses. It is important that the children understand the meaning of the mass and therefore we will try to have them involved. I will be in contact with the families concerned.

Parents/Guardians of Grade 1 Children

During the coming month, we will begin the Home Study Religion Program in our parish. This program will be for children in grade 1 this year. It is important that parents/guardians share in this program so that the children will be able to celebrate First Communion next year which is part of Year 2 program.
A special meeting for all parents/guardians with children in grade 1 will take place on Tuesday, October 22nd at 7:30 p.m. at the church. If for some critical reason parents/ guardians are not available, you must have a family representative or adult in attendance. This year of study is compulsory if your child is to complete sacramental preparation next year.
