SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY

JULY 28, 2002

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Focus: Wisdom is the knowledge that "having it all" means we are right with God.

The Pursuit of it all. Having it all. These are phrases which could characterize many of the values which drive and rule our world today. From a worldly standpoint, having it all is the pursuit of wealth, individualism, and –at its worst–greed. Having it all means peace, dignity, and, for Christians, justification before God.

THANK YOU

A sincere thank you to all who helped beautify the cemetery at the Front during the past weeks. It is in fine condition and I encourage the work to continue. To all who helped prepare for our cemetery mass, your generosity is much appreciated. During the coming weeks we will continue to improve the property and help make it one of the most beautiful pieces of property in the town.

I wish to thank The Pendergast Funeral Home for the offering of $ 225.00 which was used to purchase the new sign for the parish church. It is very generous donation and a much added improvement to our property.

CANADIAN BLOOD SERVICES

If you wish to donate blood you are encouraged to drop by: 7 Wicklow Street,
St. John' s, Monday - Thursday ; 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Blood. It's in you to give.

Lance Cove Cemetery

Sincere thanks to all who worked so hard to ensure the cemetery at Lance Cove was beautified and at the present time is looking very respectful. I thank all volunteers who donated to our efforts. We collected a total of $ 2260.00 and the expenses for that project was approximately $1150.00. Throughout the coming weeks we will continue to improve the Grotto site and the other donations will be used to repair the stations of the cross, purchase paint for the church entrances, and to do other needed repairs around the parish. I assure all who contributed that your donation will be used wisely . Congratulations on a project well done and a superb spirit of generosity on all who gave their time, talent and treasure to make it a success.
