ST. MICHAEL’S PARISH P.O. BOX 610 - BELL ISLAND, NF - A0A 4H0 Administrator: Fr. Wayne Dohey – Secretary: Cindy Foley
TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY FOCUS: Who do we say the Lord is to us? With the conception of a child, God confers on a woman and a man the power to participate with him in the act of creation. The child becomes the visible sign of God's power. To further reinforce the importance of the act of co-creation, the parents receive the new titles of mother and father. They are charged with the responsibility of parental authority.

this cost possible for our parish. World Youth Day: Letter from the Archbishop As you may have heard the cost for the Papal visit to Canada was high.
The archbishop has asked for your support. If you wish to support World
Youth Day costs, please read the letter from the Archbishop which is
available at the back of the church. All details concerning the
celebrations of the World Youth Day are fully disclosed in the letter. Summer Project 2002 During the past weeks many youth have helped in the activities of
improving our parish property. I wish to thank Andy Stoyles and Wayne
Tremblett who worked with the parish. Also, many other youth from the
various organizations in the town were made available for employment and
they done a great job. We salute all our workers and we hope the work was
not too demanding. I realize the huge amount of work which included
painting, cleaning church & hall, cemetery improvements and much more
was difficult but we all managed to remain friends. You are wonderful. Thank you: Meet & Greet Social Last Saturday we gathered at the parish hall for our first meet and
greet social. It was a wonderful celebration with approximately 150 people
in attendance. I thank all who provided the soup , sandwiches and all the
refreshments. It was a time to share in the stories of the past and
treasure our friendship. We hope to host this social again but the next
time we will celebrate it in early July when all our visitors are home for
the holiday. Congratulations to all who organized the event. The total
amount donated at the social for charity was $ 116.30. This money will be
donated to the Janeway telethon. Church Parking Lot During the past month there has been an increase of parking at the
church property in the late evenings when there is no church service.
Unfortunately , many who gather for a chat leave much litter for others to
collect. It would be appreciated that you find another area for parking.
Also , many kids are using the church steps for skateboarding and the
parking lot for hockey. As you can see the siding on our church is
severely damaged due the fact hockey balls hit it repeatedly . It is also
very evident that the skateboards continue to damage the wood on the steps
and strip off the paint. Please do not play sports near the church and no
skateboarding. I am sure there are other areas for recreation. Parish Webpage Our parish webpage continues to improve with new additions and stories
