Bulletin July 11th

Annual Cemetery Mass:  Sunday July 18th at 2:00pm.  We encourage you to gather at 1:30 pm and greet your relatives and your friends as you pray at your family plot.  About five minutes before Mass, the bell will sound to gather you closer to the altar.  In that way we can feel Christ calling us together to be in closer union with your departed loved ones in a real, live, close and active participation in the Mass.  Visit your graves after mass but please make the Mass a reverent celebration.

CEMETERY CARE: As of yet we have nobody hired to replace our Parish Maintainance Man. This means we are way behind in our summer care of the cemeteries and Parish Grounds. Anything you can do to help make the main thoroughfares more decent will be deeply appreciated

Dinner Theatre:  Hear Ye! Hear Ye!” Tickets are now available for the Annual Dinner Theatre on July 17th at $25.00 per ticket. “We are not here for a long time; but we are here for a good time!” So get your ticket early.  The crowd from away have theirs already ordered.

Raising The Roof:  Over the last three years we have been doing “patch up jobs” to stop the leaks and prevent further damage to the gyproc walls in the Parish Centre & Marian Chapel.  A complete engineering assessment was done by a professional firm which recommended the Parish Centre be re-shingled immediately and the whole church roof should be re-shingled within three to five years.  Having finished the ice and water shield and shingles on the Parish Centre, we still had leaks on half of the east and west wings of the main church.  This has now been completed and the rain storm leaks have stopped.  The final bill has not yet been received, but we estimate the work done will cost the parish almost $60,000.00.  We used enough shingles to cover ten regular size houses.  We will be taking out an interest free loan for the cost with a plan to have it all repaid over a five year period.  We are really encouraged by the instance response from families who are making a donation of $50.00 to cover the cost of one bundle of shingles plus the felt nails and cement used in this mammoth undertaking.  If you would like to make that kind of offering ($50.00) in memory of your family members, it will gratefully be received.

Greetings For Sister Phyllis:  Anyone who would like to send Sister Phyllis a get well card may use the following address: McAULEY CONVENT  250 Waterford Bridge Rd. St. John’s NL. A1E 1E3.  Please keep Sister Phyllis in your prayers.

This is a picture of one of the beautiful stain glass windows at our church. The windows were originally part of  Sacred Heart Church in Lance Cove and were donated in memory of former parishioners. When Sacred Heart Church was torn down in the mid 1980's the windows were placed in St. Michael's Church. Pictures of some of these windows are used as decorative sidebars throughout this website.
