| On Friday May 26th, 2006 over 200 Bell Islanders from all ages and
abilities walked ran, skated, biked, wheeled and stumbled over the
prescribed route ending at the local RCMP detachment. Cpl. Boyd Merrill
claimed this was one of the earlier walks in aid of the Special Olympics
for 2006. The local High School students combined with local ambulance
officials, parents, friends and family were all excited to spend a very
nice day raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics. Bell Island
area has 16 athletes that will compete in the July 1st competition. All
athletes are fine tuned and ready to compete!
